| SUPPORT FOR SOLDIERS |
|
Support for Soldiers Family Serve Opportunity |
A cell phone recycling program was founded by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist from Norwell, Mass., with $21 of their own money. Their mission was to help soldiers call home. Since then, the registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has raised millions of dollars in donations and distributed more than 500,000 prepaid calling cards to service members in all branches serving overseas.
Here is how it works: 1 Recycled cell phone = 1 hour of talk time for a Service Member overseas. The phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers enough to provide an hour of talk time per phone to soldiers abroad. Prepaid calling cards are then sent to our troops.
On Saturday, October 15, we will be collecting unwanted cell phones and donating them to Cell Phones for Soldiers. |
