At Community, we say that becoming a follower of Christ is “a decision that is followed by a process.”  We make a decision to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and then begin the process of changing our lives to become more and more like Him.  It is this process of continually growing to become more fully devoted to Him that is often confusing for new followers of Christ.

Becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ is a life long spiritual journey that is taken one step at a time.  The following graphic will serve as a road map to help you understand some of the steps that you should take as you begin Your Spiritual Journey at Community.

.
Starting Point
We recommend that all new attenders at Community attend Starting Point.  At Starting Point you will be introduced to the ministries we offer and will be given an explanation of our Discovery Classes and have the opportunity to sign-up to take your next step, at your own pace.  It will provide an opportunity for you to get to know other new attenders and the ministry staff.  Starting Point takes place during a complimentary, catered, one-hour lunch and is offered on Sundays multiple times each year

Discovery Classes

101: Discovering Community

During Discovering Community you will learn about what we believe, our core values, our structure, strategy and vision.  You will also discover what is involved in becoming a member of Community Christian Church.  This class is taught multiple times each year by Scott Eynon, our Senior Pastor.

201: Discovering My Spiritual Growth
Discovering My Spiritual Growth is designed to encourage spiritual growth in every believer. We will focus on the basic habits every Christian needs to practice in order to grow to spiritual maturity. These habits include time with God’s Word, prayer, worship and fellowship.  This class is taught by Pastoral Care Minister Bill Davis and is offered periodically throughout the year.

301: Discovering My Gifts
Putting the right people…in the right place…for the right reason. This class will help you discover and understand your spiritual gifts in order to use them in a way that you find fulfilling. This class is designed to teach, equip and place growing Christ followers into meaningful areas of service where they are excited and effective.  Discovering My Gifts is taught by Pastoral Care Minister Bill Davis multiple times each year.

401: Discovering My Influence
This class is designed to motivate and equip you to share your faith in a style all your own. God uniquely created us so we can influence people with the saving message of Jesus Christ. If you desire to tell your friends and family about your love for Jesus, in a natural way, then Discovering My Influence is for you.  Our Pastor to Adults, Kent Mezger, teaches this class multiple times each year.

Worship/Serve/Grow Environments

We believe that every Christian striving to become fully devoted in following Christ should be involved in 3 distinct environments – a Worship environment, a Serve environment, and a Grow environment.  Only through our involvement in all 3 environments will we experience the exciting adventure of a life fully devoted to Christ.

Worship Environment
The Worship environment at Community is our Sunday Worship celebrations and is typically where most new attenders to Community first become involved.  We believe that every Christ follower should be in the Worship environment weekly to celebrate what God is doing in our lives and in the church. It is in this Worship environment where we encounter God and are encouraged and challenged to grow in our relationship with Him.

Serve Environment
The Serve environment is typically the next step for many new attenders at Community and involves using our unique talents and passions to serve others – both inside the church and in the community.  To make it easy for you to move from the Worship environment to a Serve environment, we have created two bridge events to help you – First Serve and Community Impact.

First Serve makes it easy for you to dive in and check out what it's like to serve inside the church in a particular ministry area. All of our ministries have created easy one-time serving experiences called First Serve.  First Serve is a way for you to try serving with little or no training and with no strings attached.  You can try out a First Serve and, if it isn't what you're looking for, there is no long-term commitment or future obligation.  We will then help to re-direct you to another First Serve until you find a volunteer role that is right for you.

Community Impact is an opportunity for us to show God's love in a very practical way to our community.  As part of Community Impact, we often partner with local benevolent organizations to provide volunteers to meet their needs.  Typically we have a number of volunteer opportunities that are family-friendly, where you can serve with your young children. Community Impact events are held on Saturday mornings about six times each year.

Grow Environment
We believe that every Christ follower should experience Biblical community as we do life with other believers in Small Groups, our Grow environment.  In a small group setting, you will study the Bible in an environment where you can ask questions and participate in a discussion.  Most people who have been a part of a small group say the greatest benefit is the close friendships that develop.  It helps to know that others are facing the same difficulties, or have lived through them and learned spiritual principles in the process.  Small groups at Community meet both on our campus and in homes throughout South Florida and typically meet weekly or every other week.

To make it easy for you to move from the Worship environment to a Grow environment, we have created Dinner Groups as a bridge to help you build relationships and begin to experience the benefits of being involved in a small group.

Becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ is a life long spiritual journey that is taken one step at a time.  What is your next step?  If you need help determining what your next step should be, email Connections Director Stephanie Bringas.
