I am coming to be baptized by immersion into Christ.  What do I do?

You should bring a bathing suit or shorts and a T-shirt to wear underneath the baptismal robe that we provide and also a plastic bag for your wet bathing suit.  Come forward during the invitation time after the message and a Decision Counselor will help you get ready for your baptism.  We provide changing rooms, baptismal robes, towels and hair dryers.

I am already an immersed believer.  How do I become a member of Community?

Come forward during the invitation time after the message.  There is no need to bring a “letter” from your previous church.  Decision counselors will guide you on what to do after coming forward.

What happens when I come forward during the invitation time on Decision Day?

This is a wonderful opportunity for the congregation to celebrate your decision.  After everyone has come forward, we will introduce you to the congregation and as a group have you repeat together the good confession “I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, my Lord and Savior.” (You do not need to memorize this statement). If you are being baptized during the service, you will be taken backstage to prepare for your baptism.  Otherwise, you will return to your seat to for the remainder of the worship service.

What should I do if I am uncomfortable coming forward or being baptized during the worship service?
We will have some baptisms on Decision Day after the 2nd Worship Service at 1 PM in a more private setting.  If you desire another time for a private setting for your baptism, please contact Kent Mezger at 954-724-7400 ext. 213 or kmezger@communitycc.com.  It is recommended that you come forward during the invitation time so that everyone can celebrate your decision, but it is not required.

Can my family come forward and be baptized with me?
Yes, but all being baptized should have attended a Baptism Class (adults & teens), Discovering Community class (adults), Middle School / High School Baptism Class (teens), or Joining God’s Family (children)

What about photography?
You may certainly have family or friends photograph the Decision Time and/or your baptism, but there will be church-provided video photography taken of the baptisms.  If you are baptized, you will receive a DVD of your baptism.  As you know, from time to time, we show videos of people’s baptisms at Community but we will never show your baptism video without your approval.

May I bring family & friends?
Definitely! We encourage you to celebrate this event with those close to you.  Invite them to join you for the worship service.  If you are being baptized, let them know that you will rejoin them after the service ends.  They can wait for you in the Auditorium.

If I still have questions, who should I call?
Please contact Kent Mezger at 954-724-7400 ext. 213 or kmezger@communitycc.com.
