Why Giving Matters
At Community Christian Church we are focused on one goal: changing lives…one person at a time. The simple fact, however, is that the church cannot do this without financial resources. And God has decided that each church is to be funded by those who are a part of that local church. Simply put: our giving makes an eternal difference.
Recognizing this, we want to highlight all of the ways a person in our church family could make a difference financially. There are several creative ways you can maximize what God has blessed you with to change the world one life at a time. Click here for a fuller explanation on why God has called each of us to give back to Him.
Ways You Can Give To Community
Giving back to God does not have to be a stressful process. Listed here are several easy ways to make giving fit your time and resources. Some may require assistance from our office staff. If you need further help, contact our Office Manager, Vicky Horn, at 954.724.7400, ext. 233 or by email.
Online Giving
Click here for convenient options that give you an opportunity to simplify your finances with the latest technology available today. We are pleased to offer you several methods for Giving Back to God online. These options offer you the flexibility to make donations 24/7 from any location.
What are the benefits of Online Giving?
- Prioritizing Your Budget: The Bible teaches that our tithes should be a “first”, and not a last, matter in our lives. Read Proverbs 3:9-10. It is easy to let our good intentions be compromised by expenses and billing cycles. By setting up Online Giving, you can be sure to set that portion aside before other expenses rob you of the joy of giving to God.
- Increasing Your Faithfulness: Have you ever forgotten your tithe, left it at home or fallen behind because of travel or other schedule interruptions? Online Giving provides a way to strengthen your faithfulness in giving. After setting up a recurring gift, you won’t be faced with forgetfulness.
- Helping Your Church: Through Online Giving you expedite your gift, simplify our accounting and strengthen the base of regular support. Your faithful gifts help Community Christian continue to fulfill its mission to change the world one life at a time!
- Encouraging Fellow Believers: As you plan and prioritize your giving, you will help to lead the way for others to mature in their spiritual stewardship. Setting the pace in this area provides a personal testimony for others to follow.
Bring Your Offering To Church
This one is pretty self-explanatory. If you would like to write a check or give cash, you may bring it with you to a Sunday worship service and place it in the offering as it is collected. If you would like to receive offering envelopes by mail on a quarterly basis, email Vicky Horn, our Office Manager. The offering envelopes you will receive in the mail have a specific identification number used for tracking contributions for income tax purposes.
Mail Your Check To The Church Office
Sometimes it is easier to simply mail in your gift. Many choose this option by sending their offering in an envelope to:
Finance Department
Community Christian Church
10001 W. Commercial Blvd
Tamarac, FL 33351
Your envelope will be immediately forwarded to the Finance Department and counted toward the following week's offering (no other staff member will open your envelope).
Matching Gift Programs
Many businesses and companies, whether big or small, have programs set up that encourage their employees to give money to non-profit organizations, sometimes including churches. Typically, if a company has a matching gifts program, for every dollar an employee donates to a charity, the company also donates a dollar to the same organization. Some employers choose to double or even triple match their employees' donations! Matching Gift Programs are a wonderful way for employees to make their charitable dollars stretch farther at no cost to themselves. Simply ask your company's human resources office or benefits administrator for a matching gift form and instructions. You may be able to effectively double your contribution to Community!
We have sampled a number of companies that offer a matching gift program where your contributions to Community Christian Church would qualify for a matching gift from the employer. American Express and Starbucks are examples of two companies that offer this program for contributions to churches. Please contact your human resources or benefits department to see if your company offers the program. If they match gifts to churches, contact Lou Prats, our Executive Director (954.724.7400, ext 232), and let him know so we can keep an updated list of companies offering matching gifts programs.
By utilizing a matching gifts program you too can be one of the faithful servants who were able to increase the talents that the Lord has given to you.
Payroll Deduction
Many aren't aware that the same process that allows employers to make automatic payroll deductions for charitable contributions like the United Way, can also be used to give directly to the church. By requesting a Payroll Deduction Form and submitting it to your company's Human Resources Department, you can make contributions to the church automatically.
Gifts Of Stocks And Bonds (and avoid capital gains taxes!)
Stocks, bonds, and mutual funds are great ways to give without incurring capital gains on appreciated assets. You can transfer your stock gift from your account directly to the church's account. We will sell the asset and apply the amount of the sale to your annual contribution statement. If you have a stock certificate on hand and want to discuss how to make the transfer, contact our Executive Director for more information. Click here for additional information on gifts of stock and bonds.
Donation Of Valuables
Did you know that instead of using your car for a trade-in, you could donate that car to the church and receive a tax write-off? This is not only limited to cars, but also includes boats, land, jewelry, and any other items of value. Please contact Lou Prats, our Executive Director, if you would like to make this type of gift.
End Of The Year Gifts
As a Federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, people at Community Christian Church can receive a Federal tax deduction for their contributions to our church. In order for a gift to be credited toward the current tax year, the church must receive your gift by December 31st of that year. While forecasting their upcoming tax burden many realize that an "end of the year" gift of checks, securities, and valuables can alleviate some of that burden and make a difference in the lives of people at the same time. If you would like to make an end of the year gift, simply give your contribution at the regular offering time or mail the appropriate form to the church office.
Leave A Gift In Your Will
Under current tax laws, unnecessary estate taxes are often paid by the estates of those who have died. By leaving a portion of your assets to the church in your will, you not only avoid losing a large part of your estate to death taxes, but you continue making a difference in the lives of people long after you have departed.
