From student: If God gave us the Bible so that we could understand him better, then why are some parts of it VERY confusing? Why didn't he make everything clear?
We must admit that there are parts of the Bible that are confusing. The Bible is confusing because God wrote it, but he used human authors. They used a different language and had different historical and cultural contexts. There are parts of the Bible that are difficult to understand, but an objective interpretation is possible. It is important to realize that the essential messages of the Bible are clear, and without dispute.
From student: If you had two minutes to convince a person of a different belief about Jesus being our Lord and Savior what would you say?
Some really resist in believing that Jesus is God's Son. Try explaining the fact that Jesus did miracles that only God could do and that He was proclaimed to be God by the prophets and His own followers and that He proved who He was by His resurrection. Check out these scriptures: God is Creator - Isaiah 44:24; Jesus is Creator - Colossians 1:15-16 God is Savior - Isaiah 43:11; Jesus is Savior - Titus 2:13 God is the I AM - Exodus 3:14; Jesus is the I AM - John 8:58
From parent: How can you help me get my son/daughter connected in the student ministry?
If you need help getting your son or daughter connected to our ministry... PLEASE allow us to help. We promise that we'll do three things:
(1) We'll have one of our leaders call and/or write your student to personally invite him/her to one of our events. (2) We'll have one of our student leaders do the same. (3) We'll share whatever information we can that might help you help your student get involved. For example; you son might say,"I don't know anyone who goes there." That's a fair concern, but chances are high that from the 200 students who are involved in our middle and high school ministry, they will know someone. We'll give you names, offer options, and be waiting for them to arrive at a program so they'll have someone to sit with. Please allow us to help. Please email Nate Bush at nbush@communitycc.com
From potential volunteers: Does the student ministry need help? If so, how can I help out? Yes, we need help! There are about 100 students in our church who may not have a small group leader this year. If you are interested in serving in one of the most exciting ministries in our church, you'd be part of a great team of men and women volunteers who range in age from 21 to 81.
We currently have over 20 adults who work with 200 students that call 3C Student Ministries home and we need more adult leaders! Some of our small groups have a very high student to adult ratio; they are not a small groups, they are youth groups.
There is no stereotype of a good youth worker that you must fit: -You don't need to be perfect -You don't need to be a Bible teacher -You don't need to be cool -You don't need to be young -You don't need to listen to rap music Here's what you need: -A pulse -A caring heart -A likeable personality -A love for God -An interest in teenagers
From students: A lot of my friends have talked about joining the church and attending the classes (101-401)...what are they?
We have designed 4 great Bible studies to help you go deeper with your faith.
>> The first step is class 101, where you'll learn what it means to be a Christian and what 3C Student Ministries is all about.
>> In 201, we talk about the personal HABITS all believers must develop to grow in their faith.
>> 301 is all about discovering who God wants you to be, and who isn't looking for that.
>> Finally, in 401, we talk about what it means to be a world class Christian and sharing our faith with others.
WHY SETTLE FOR SOMETHING LESS? These classes are held once a month and you can go through them alone or with your small group. If you want more information, send an e-mail to Nate Bush at nbush@communitycc.com
From student: Is Christianity the one true religion?
Yes, the Bible teaches that Christianity is the one true religion. Jesus said that He alone was the way to the Father (John 14:6), that He alone revealed the Father (Matthew 11:27; Luke 10:22). Christians believe He was the Son of God (John 8:58; Exodus 3:14), who forgave sins (Mark 2:5; Luke 5:20; 7:48), and who rose from the dead (Luke 24:24-29; John 2:19f). Buddha didn't rise from the dead, nor did Confucius. Muhammad didn't fulfill detailed prophecy. There is far less reliable information written about them, yet they are believed in. |
